Transmission & Distribution (TnD) DEWG
Chair: Jerry Fitzpatrick, NIST - TnD strives to create unprecedented robustness and resilience to grid instabilities and disturbances for improved reliability and improve power quality to meet customer needs and enable ready access for distributed generators to the grid.  The discussions will cover the need for an SGIP “Catalog of Interoperability” that lists organizations, certifications, and trademarks that will give an assurance of interoperability; a Smart Grid sensors PAP proposal; the development of messages for the Transmission Bus Load Model which is being developed by Nokhum Markushevich and defines information sharing between transmission energy management systems and all of the aggregated loads and resources in connected distribution systems; and adding applications and equipment to the list of standards relevant to TnD in the SGIP Catalog of Standards for improved search capability.

Business & Policy (BnP) DEWG / PAP-20: Green Button ESPI Evolution

Chair: David Wollman.

The BnP DEWG assists both business decision-makers and regulatory policy-makers to develop informed policies advancing Smart Grid interoperability objectives. This in-person meeting will include updates regarding recent BnP activities, notable regulatory proceedings and other policy developments. These updates will include summaries of recent activities related to Transactive Energy and notable regulatory initiatives in at state commissions including New York, California, Texas and other states. Updates will also include highlights from the recent NARUC Annual Meetings and special guests from the local energy community.

Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) DEWG and PAP-22: EV submetering
Chair Sunil Chhaya, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) - V2G DEWG clarifies PEV business objectives and prioritizes corresponding PEV-grid interactions. It identifies the service interfaces and standards needed (syntax and semantics of information transfer, service interface protocols, cross-cutting issues, business and policy level). Currently it sponsors PAP 22, EV Fueling Submetering Requirements. This meeting will discuss advanced use case scenarios.

Distributed Renewals, Generation, and Storage (DRGS) General and DRGS Subgroup A - Roadmap
Chair Al Hefner, NIST
The role of SGIP DRGS in coordinating interoperable Generation and Storage standards across Transmission, Distribution, Microgrid, and Customer domains will be described. The framework of standards for generation and storage will be reviewed, and DRGS activities for coordinating interoperable standards for generators and storage will be described, including interoperability of information, interconnection and test standards, as well as coordination with other aspects such as regulatory considerations and weather information models.  The role of the DRGS roadmap subgroup in coordinating a long term sustainable standards development vision and process and in coordinating with standards development for a wide range of devices and systems will be reviewed. Plans and recent activities of the roadmap subgroup such as coordination with the IEC standards roadmap effort will be described. The session will conclude with an open discussion of how DRGS and SGIP in general can contribute to and benefit from this road mapping process.

Home to Grid (H2G) DEWG

Chair: Ken Wacks, Home, Building & Utility Systems

The H2G DEWG will work on developing the following white papers:"Home Nanogrids Meet Smart Grids," "Smart Grid System Stability with Broadcast Communications," "Smart Grid System Security for Broadcast Communications," and "Economic Value of the Integration of Consumption Preferences in Electric System Planning."  The group will extend the recently completed white paper, "Barriers to Responsive Appliances at Scale," to adapting home appliances for load following and frequency regulation for short-term demand response to accommodate distributed energy resources.

The group will update the status of H2G DEWG candidates for the SGIP Catalog of Standards candidates and will review enhancements to the series of ANSI/CEA-2045 standards, "Modular Communications Interface for Energy Management."  A liaison report on the SGIP Electromagnetic Interoperability Issues Working Group (EMIIWG) and any additional help requested from the H2G DEWG.  H2G will consider a proposal for data aggregation methodology and the impact on data privacy.
