Cybersecurity (SGCC)
Chair Vicky Pillitteri, NIST

The SGCC Working Meeting will include a status update from the active subgroups, discussion of the SGCC Project Plan for 2015, and discuss in further detail the Cybersecurity Standards Mapping activity. The Cybersecurity Standards Mapping activity will leverage the IEC website that is starting to map different types of standards to domains (see http://smartgridstandardsmap.com/). However, the cybersecurity mappings often just include the basic cybersecurity standards everywhere and not separating security standards by layer or purpose.  The SGCC proposes to develop a document that categorizes the cybersecurity standards by SGIP domain and by “layer” (e.g. business security policies, functional security procedures, information security, communications network security, cyber-physical security). This could be published by the SGIP and/or provided to the IEC.

Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) DEWG and PAP-22: EV submetering
Chair Sunil Chhaya, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) - V2G DEWG clarifies PEV business objectives and prioritizes corresponding PEV-grid interactions. It identifies the service interfaces and standards needed (syntax and semantics of information transfer, service interface protocols, cross-cutting issues, business and policy level). Currently it sponsors PAP 22, EV Fueling Submetering Requirements. This meeting will discuss advanced use case scenarios.

Smart Grid Testing & Certification Committee (SGTCC)

Chair: Erich Gunther. The SGTCC focuses on testing and certification programs and processes that intend to accelerate the availability of interoperable systems and devices for the Smart Grid. It has developed processes, as embodied in its Interoperability Process Reference Manual (IPRM), that provide approaches and best practices for industry test programs that focus on interoperability, and promotes widespread adoption of such programs.

The meeting will cover:

1) Process for codifying the IPRM Version 3 as a standard

2) Status update on PAP23 activities

3) Update and discussion of the Catalog of Test Programs (CoTP)

4) Discussion regarding restart of the Catalog of Standards (CoS) review working group

5) Discussion to support development of a prioritized SGTCC work plan for 2015

PAP-21: Weather Information

Chair: Martin Burns, NIST.  We have made substantial progress on two key use cases – “Approaching Storm to Microgrid” and “A storm is coming through a city”. We will discuss these two Use Cases in Portland. Each Use Case demands the integration and analysis of weather/environmental/climate data from multiple sources and across domains. In addition we will begin to discuss a mapping spreadsheet that compares the key weather standards based on the data groupings of Analogs, CodedValues, Phenomena, Metadata, Alerts, and Geometry. The Use Cases along with the mapping spreadsheet, when complete, will provide the basis of the requirements output of the PAP.

Building to Grid/Industry to Grid Joint Work Group (B2G/I2G) DEWGs and PAP-17: Facility Smart Grid Information Standard

Chair: David Holmberg, Vice-chair: Dave Hardin. B2G DEWG examines issues which enable commercial buildings to participate in energy markets and perform effective energy conservation and management.  I2G DEWG addresses interaction between the grid and industrial facilities, including power generation.  This joint meeting will include an update on U.S. and international standardization for SGIP standards (FSGIM, Energy Interoperation, OpenADR and SEP), review of the update SGIP Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Roadmap, discussion of a TE Roadmap, and discussion of Energy/Water/Environment issues within the C&I industry.

Transactive Energy Coordination Group (TECG)
Chair: Steve Widergren, Transactive Energy Coordinating Group (TECG) – Subgroup of the Technical Committee

Transactive Energy offers a collaborative approach to integrating distributed energy resources (including load) with power systems operations by using economic-based transaction concepts. The TECG coordinates and guides the transactive energy activities within the SGIP.  The group will continue discussions on the following items:
  • Report of TE activities from SGIP committees and working groups
  • Compendium of TE applications and pilots
  • B2G/I2G Interoperable Transactive Retail Tariff whitepaper review
  • B2G/I2G/H2G Introduction to Transactive Energy whitepaper review
